Shelby Community Foundation Awards 12 Students With College Scholarship

The Shelby Community Foundation has awarded 12 local students with a $1,000 scholarship.

The Shelby Community Foundation recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to 12 local students. The recipients were chosen based on their academic success, community service, work experience, family background, financial need, future goals and the impact they may have on the community in the future.

The 12 students selected by the Foundation are:

  • Nicholas Bely who will attend Wayne State or the University of Michigan to become a Doctor.
  • Emily Briggs will study Engineering at Purdue University.
  • Ryan Brunk received the Kirk Young Memorial Scholarship and will attend either Michigan State or Western Michigan and major in Chemical Engineering with a biomedical concentration.
  • Devpreet Chahal will go to Wayne State to study Medicine.
  • Sarah Dembeck will study Occupational Therapy at Western Michigan.
  • Robert Huth received the Jameson Bates Memorial Scholorship and will obtain a medical degree at the University of Michigan.
  • Andrew Klein will pursue an accounting degree from Northwood University.
  • Loren Lacy plans to study Dentistry at University of Detroit Mercy.
  • Jessica McNeil will study Mechanical Engineering with a Bio-Engineering specialty at Kettering University.
  • Kasey Pryg will study Pre-Medical at either Michigan State or the University of Michigan.
  • Jennifer Turner will obtain a degree in Psychology from Central Michigan.
  • Amber Zuehlke received the Joseph Catenacci Memorial Scholarship and will attend Lawrence Technological University to receive a degree in Architecture and Interior Architecture.

The Shelby Community Foundation also presented two $500 Scholarships from a fund established by the Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress.

  • Megan Bastuba plans to attend either the US Air Force Academy or the University of Michigan and has not declared a major.
  • Amanda Tobin will attend University of Michigan and major in Science and become a Physician.

The Shelby Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization working to enrich and improve life in Shelby Township.
