Shelby-Utica Area Students Honored as Channel 7's 'Brightest and Best'

WXYZ-TV's 33-year tradition of honoring Metro Detroit's top high school students continues with several from Shelby-Utica Patch schools.

Channel 7, WXYZ recently honored the 256 recipients of this year's "Brightest and Best" award with a special luncheon at the station in Southfield. Among the winners for 2012, the 33rd year of program, was a student from Eisenhower and Utica.

The station teamed up with Gardner-White Furniture this year to present the Brightest and Best Essay Contest. One lucky student that submits a 500-word essay on how to move Michigan forward by retaining college graduates to work and live in Michigan will receive a $5,000 scholarship.
