UPDATE: UCS Board of Education To Discuss Future of Junior High Athletics

On the agenda at tonight's Utica Community School Board meeting is the future of the district's junior high school sports program.

The future of Utica Community School's Junior High School athletics will be a topic of discussion at tonight's board of education meeting.

In June, the from the 2011-12 school year budget.

However, the decision was controversial and many parents and school coaches vowed to come up with a plan to recoup the expenses and save the program for some 2,000 junior high school athletes.

“We aren’t eliminating fall sports,” said Carl Territo, a former UCS trustee, at a June meeting. “We’re giving you an opportunity to continue should a plan be worked out to find the funding.”

Those plans will be presented at Monday night's meeting and possibly voted on.
