New Utica Community Schools Contract Includes Salary Freeze
Utica Community Schools approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Utica Education Association, according to a report in The Detroit News.
A collective bargaining agreement between the 1,500-member Utica Education Association and Utica Community Schools has been approved by the Board of Education, according to a report in The Detroit News.
The new, five-year agreement expires in 2017 and covers the past year when teachers worked under an extended contract.
"The agreement provides stability for our students, community and staff and maintains a focus on teaching and learning, which supports our career and college culture," superintendent Christine Johns told the paper in a statement.

Included in the contract is a salary schedule freeze, according to the report.
