Buddy's Pizza Set to Open Shelby Township Location in November

The new location at Hayes Road and Lakeside Boulevard will be Buddy's largest restaurant, at over 8,000 square feet.

This November, a little taste of Detroit comes to Shelby Township.

The iconic Buddy's Pizza is set to open its 10th location at Hayes Road and Lakeside Boulevard in the first or second week of November, said Welsey Pikula, vice president of operations.

It's been a busy summer for Pikula and the rest of the restaurant chain, owned by president Robert Jacobs. The buildings which occupied the spaces formerly used by Teddy's Times Square and Oliver's Pizza were demolished in July to make room for a rebuilt restaurant, described as "authentic retro, with modern scale."

At over 8,000 square feet with a capacity to seat 260-300 guests, it's set to be the largest Buddy's Pizza. Its design is intended to bring back memories of the original Buddy's Pizza located on Conant Street in Detroit, Pikula said.

Pikula has hired about 110 new employees and looking to fill more at every position, he said. For more information, call its Warren location. at  (586) 574-9200.
