Clinton River Watershed Council Shares Kayaking Safety Tips for the Clinton River

Kayaking is a growing sport in Macomb County, and is attracting a large amount of interest according to the Clinton River Watershed Council.

Anne Vaara, the council's executive director, stated that the organization is receiving a number of calls about kayaking on the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair.

While the sport is growing in popularity, there are some safety measures which need to be taken, she added. The river can be dangerous, and claimed a life last week. Oliver Dixon, 47, and his kayak were found Sunday afternoon under a log jam, according to a story in the Macomb Daily.
