Eagles Fly to Round 2 of the Football Playoffs

The Eisenhower football team shut out Dakota 35-0 in state playoff opener.

defeated for the second time this high school football season, this time taking a 35-0 victory over the Cougars on Friday night in a Division 1 playoff game.

After beating , Eisenhower coach Bob Lantzy and his high-flying Eagles knew the Cougars would be out for revenge. But not on this given night. Nobody was going to come in to the Eagles home field and take them out of the playoffs.

The scoring started on the first offensive drive, which finished with a strike from quarterback Joey Zerafa to Dan Chmielewski.

The Eagles didn't let up all night. The senior quarterback followed shortly after with a fake that left the Cougar defenders behind for a long gain. A few plays later, he snuck through the middle into the end zone.

Just before halftime, senior running back Daniel Venditti went around the end to put the Eagles up 21-0.

The second half proved to be much of the same—all Eagles. A pass to Yousseff Bujaidar and a 31-yard run by Shane King built the score to the 35-0 finale.

The Eagle defense was outstanding, keeping the Cougars out of the end zone, even when they threatened.

Eisenhower will take on the Bulldogs of Romeo next weekend. The Bulldogs advanced by beating Troy Athens 34-31 in five overtimes.
