Founders Cup Soccer Finals a Competitive Success

The Michigan United Soccer League's Founders Cup Finals provided exciting, competitive soccer this weekend at Croatia Park.

The Michigan United Soccer League's 2011 Founders Cup final games were held on Sunday, Aug. 14 starting at Croatia Park in Shelby Township.  This year marked the 26th Founders Cup tournament for the MUSL, the third-largest adult soccer league in the United States.

"The day went really well considering the weather forecast looked really bad," said Larry Myers, Michigan United Soccer League administrator.  "It was threatening all day and we've had a little bit of rain, but nothing that's caused us major problems.  I think everyone is having a great time.  Most importantly, all of the games have been very competitive and very exciting.  We're quite happy."

Here's a look at the final scores for the MUSL's showcase event:

"This has been a great day," said Rick Cook, MUSL president.  "We started the Founders Cup tournament to replace the annual banquet and it's really worked out great.  We wanted to get everyone out and make it more of a family-oriented event and one that the community can come out for as well.  Everyone has enjoyed the camaraderie and the competition."
