Founders Cup Soccer Finals Sunday

The Michigan United Soccer League's Founders Cup finals will take place in a picnic atmosphere on Sunday, Aug. 14, at Croatia Park.

If you are looking for some sweet summer soccer this Sunday, look no further then Shelby Township's Croatia Park.

The Michigan United Soccer League's 2011 Founders Cup final games will take place on Sunday, Aug. 14 starting at 9 a.m. This year marks the 26th Founders Cup tournament for the MUSL, the third-largest adult soccer league in the United States. There are currently 103 teams in the league and more than 2,000 players collectively in the over 30 (years), over 40, over 50 and open divisions. 

Be sure to bring a cooler and picnic basket to enjoy the picnic atmosphere of the day.

The final matches of the MUSL's showcase event are as follows:

  • 9 a.m. Over 50 - Farmington 50's vs. Alrafdyen
  • 11 a.m. Over 40 - Croatia Soccer Club vs. BESA
  • 1 p.m. Over 30 Divisions 3-5 - Romanian Galaxy vs. Chaldean Winged Bull
  • 3 p.m. Over 30 Divisions 1-2 - Beograd vs. UK Royals FC
  • 5 p.m. Open - Deportiva Toluca vs. winner of FSC Lightning/Oakland University Soccer Club

Of course, if any of the games require extra time, game times may be adjusted accordingly.

Croatia Park (Croatia American Center) is located at 11390 22 Mile Rd, Shelby Township, MI 48317. The park is just east of Old Van Dyke.
