Jingle Bell Race Raises $6,000 for Local Charities (Photos)

Hundreds turned out to the 3rd Annual Shelby Township Jingle Bell Run.

More than 500 people braved the elements Sunday for the 3rd Annual Shelby Township Jingle Bell Run.     

The 5k run/walk kicked off from the Shelby Township Community Center, located at 51690 Van Dyke, and made its way through Cherry Creek Golf Course and Mae Stecker Park.               

The race garned more than $6,000. All of the proceeds will be donated to six charities.

  • Shelby Twp Fire/Police Fund, to benefit the 13 senior citizens who lost their apartmens last month in a major fire
  • Macomb Special Olympics
  • Penrickton Center for BLind Children
  • Cat Tail Acres
  • Shelby Lions Club Food Basket Program for needy families
  • Shelby Twp Veterans Memorial (Phil Randazzo)
