Proceeds from the race will benefit the Macomb County Food Bank and the Michigan Humane Society.

Event organizer Nancy Smith said 1,344 people -- many dressed in Halloween costumes -- signed up for the Oct. 27 race.

"We really loved seeing all of the costumes and hoopla," said runner Karolyn Tomayko.

The event kicked off with a costume contest for best individual, group, child and doggie. Each winner walked away with a $20 gift certificate.

The 10K started first and was followed 15 minutes later by the 5K.

Awards were given out for overall male and female winners, masters male and female winners and age groups winners.
