Ike Pumps Up To Take on League Rivals

The Eisenhower and Stevenson football teams keep the longtime rivalry running with their 7 p.m. competition Thursday night at Stevenson High School.

Blitz, fumble, lateral, sack … even if you don’t recognize any of these as football terms, you should recognize this one: rivalry.

That is exactly what is going on tomorrow night with the vs. Stevenson high school football game.

The September 1 game at 7 p.m. will be the league opener for these two rival teams, both of which play in the Macomb Area Conference Red Division. and Stevenson’s teams have combined to make more than 30 playoff appearances and win 15 MAC Red Division titles.

While this rivalry has a long history, it looks like it could even help predict the future. With the Eagles coming in as the league’s preseason favorite and the Titans looking to regroup after a rebuilding year with new coach Steve Goralski, this game could be a big determiner in deciding this year’s MAC Red champ.

For both teams, this is a must-win game. A rivalry game is not just about another notch in the wins and losses columns, it’s about school pride and the winning team gaining momentum to propel them through the upcoming season.
