Runners Kick Off Macomb Orchard Trail Running Season

Participants in the 5th Apple Blossom Run on the Macomb Orchard Trail speed through on a 9K or five and one half mile trek north to Glacier Golf Club.

The Macomb Orchard Trail was a popular place today with over 100 runners participating in the fifth annual Apple Blossom 9K run, part of the Gala of Runs which also included a 3K and a Half Mile Kids Fun Run.

The racers in the 9k Apple Blossom Run gathered at the Glacier Golf Club early Saturday morning. They were bussed to Roberts Elementary School where they stretched and warmed up before heading north on the Macomb Orchard Trail for their five and half mile run back to the Glacier Golf Club.

For first timer, Rich Bousson of Shelby Township, the goal was to finish alive and possibly beat his last time. Bousson, like many, is trying to stay in shape and started running about one year ago. He said he also likes to bike on the Macomb Orchard Trail.
