Softball Spotlight On: Sami Torongeau

Torongeau threw her first career no-hitter on May 28 in a Memorial Day Tournament in Farmington Hills.  

"I had no idea I was pitching a no-hitter," said Torongeau.  "I found out at the very end of the game and I was really surprised. I felt like I was doing well and I only threw six balls all game, the rest were strikes. The whole team celebrated by going out for ice cream." 

Last weekend, the AAA Impact won the St. Clair Shores Sharks Classic in the 12U division and Torongeau was named the MVP by the Wild, their opponents in the championship game.

"The best thing about playing softball is my team," said Torongeau. "They are like a family to me." 

Torongeau is an eighth-grader at Shelby Junior High School and also plays volleyball and basketball.

"Three words that best describe me are fun, athletic and friendly," added Torongeau.
