'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' Or at Least Sign Up for Spring Season

The Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department will begin accepting Spring 2012 Little League registrations.

As we head into the thick of winter, boys and girls in Shelby and Utica are longing for the days the ground thaws and they can play baseball late into the evening again.

As we wait patiently, the Shelby Township Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department will soon be accepting player registration for the 2012 spring little league baseball and softball teams.

Returning players may enroll on-line from Jan. 9-27 and in person and by phone from Jan. 17-27. Online registration may be done by visiting www.shelbytwp.org/departments/prm.

Beginning Jan. 23, new players may be registered at the Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department. A parent must present proof of age and address for child that did not play in the Little League program last year. Any registration accepted after the Jan. 27 deadline (if openings are available) will be assessed a $5 late fee.

There are several divisions for boys and girls ages 4 through 16 with most beginning the second week of April and finishing up in July. The player fee for T-Ball is $55 and for all other divisions it’s $85.
