Utica Girls Hoops Hopes to Find Zone

Chieftains' young girls basketball team tries to improve in time for play in the MAC White Division.

With just four returning starters, the Utica girls basketball team knows the early part of the season will be a learning process.

Still, with seniors Sarah Miller and Eryn Maday, both of whom will play college basketball at Northern Michigan, the Chieftains hope to find a comfort zone before play begins in the Macomb Area Conference White Division.

So far, Utica has struggled. The Chieftains fell to 0-4 on the season after losing to Fraser 41-24 on Tuesday.

Utica, coached by Tom McDonald, is off for the Christmas break and returns to action on Jan. 4 at Romeo.

Utica finished 12-9 last season.
