From Fairs To A Huge Yard Sale: There's Lots To Do In And Around Shelby-Utica This Weekend

There's no reason to sit at home this weekend. There are events scheduled today and tomorrow in and near Shelby Township and Utica. There's a community yard sale, the Old Mill Arts and Crafts fair, and Sterlingfest. Here's what you need to know:

- Today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Top artists and crafters from around the state will showcase their wares  in Utica’s Grant Park (located off Van Dyke, north of M-59) this weekend during the city’s annual Old Mill Arts and Crafts Festival. Parking is available in the lots on the north and south side of the park, on the basketball courts, and in the street. Admission and parking are free.

Expect to find a variety of booths from metal crafters and jewelry makers to dried flower art and wood pieces such as chairs and tables. Other tables at the festival include clothing, soaps and lotions, lawn art, and more. There will be hot dogs, sausage, pizza, drinks, chips, Kona-ice, kettle corn, nuts, beef sticks, lemonade, etc.  Students from Utica High who have formed a band and they will be performing. There will also be a vocal group made up of UHS students. A silent auction is running both days.

-  Today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park (22 Mile and Shelby Rd.). Looking for a one-of-a-kind item or just interested in browsing through a collection of inexpensive and, in most cases, preowned goods?  Residents purchase spots to set up their wares in and nearby the parking lot. Visitors stroll through the tables, many of which are filled with household goods, clothes, antiques and collectibles, toys and baby items, and more. Artists and crafters also set up tables to showcase their collection of handmade items.
