Macomb County Beach Conditions

The Macomb County Health Department found Veterans Memorial beach to have unsafe levels of E. coli bacteria.

The Macomb County Health Department tests the water at five public beaches twice a week for E. coli bacteria.

St. Clair Shores Memorial Park Beach is closed this weekend for swimming due to high bacteria levels.

The other four beaches are open for swimming.

E. coli bacteria lives in the digestive system of humans and warm-blooded animals. If the levels of E. coli are unsafe (in excess of 300 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water) swimmers could contract minor illnesses, including sore throats or diarrhea.

While the beach is closed, the park remains open.
