Macomb County Beaches Open for Memorial Day Weekend

Those brave enough to head into local waterways this weekend can swim with confidence after the Macomb County Health Department found local beaches to have safe levels High E. coli.

The Macomb County Health Department has resumed testing the water at five public beaches twice a week for E. coli bacteria. This bacteria lives in the digestive system of humans and warm-blooded animals.

If the levels of E. coli are unsafe (in excess of 300 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water) swimmers could contract minor illnesses, including sore throats or diarrhea.

All five beaches are open for swimming.
