All four comprehensive UCS high schools named among nation's best

Newsweek also ranks all UCS schools as Macomb County's best

Eisenhower, Henry Ford II, Stevenson and Utica high schools have been named among the nation's top high schools by Newsweek Magazine and are ranked as the best in Macomb County.

All four UCS high schools have placed among the top 2,000 U.S. high schools in an annual list that considers "the nation’s high schools with a simple conceit: to find the ones that best prepare students for college," according to the Newsweek Web site.

“We’re extremely pleased about the national recognition that has been received by all four of our comprehensive high schools in Utica Community Schools,” superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said. “This national honor reflects the collaborative efforts of this entire community – the Board of Education, all UCS staff members, parents and our remarkable students. These honors once again demonstrate the success of our efforts to produce students who are truly career and college ready.”

To make the list, schools were evaluated in several key areas: Four-year, on time graduation rate; percent of 2011 graduates accepted to college; AP/IB/AICE per student, average SAT and/or ACT score; Average AP/IB/AICE exam, and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course.
