For the second year in a row, Eisenhower High School's "Esprit de Corps" yearbook is a Crown Award Finalist in Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA). Additionally, the book earned "Gold Medalist Status" for its CSPA critique.
"A total of 1,351 newspapers, magazines and yearbooks published during the 2010-2011 academic year were eligible in the 2012 Crown Awards program. The grand total of 204 Crowns consists of 56 magazines, 56 newspapers and 92 yearbooks. Of these, 163 Crowns will be given to scholastic publications and 41 Crowns to collegiate publications," according the the CSPA website.
The 2011 yearbook staff worked diligently throughout the school year and over the summer to produce the 2011 yearbook. They were led by former Editor-in-Chief and current Missouri school of journalism student Maria Harper and advised by Yearbook Adviser Erica Kincannon.
The staff will learn if the book is a Silver or Gold Crown winner in March, when awards are announced at the organization's annual conference in New York.
Last year, the yearbook earned a Silver Crown Award and was critiqued at "Silver Medalist Status."
