Roberts Elementary special education teacher Theresa Waite has been honored for making a difference with her special needs students.
Waite has received the "Make A Difference" award from the Macomb Intermediate School District Parent Advisory Committee.
Waite, who has been with UCS since 1994, teaches in the CORE learning center at Roberts Elementary for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She was nominated by parents Robert and Judy Auten and Jeff and Kelly Kubik.
"As a group, all special education professionals should be honored for their work with our kids, yet Theresa Waite is exceptional," Mr. and Mrs Auten wrote in the nomination. "We nominate her for her caring, her compassion and her dedication, not only to her profession but also to all of the students fortunate enough to be in her CORE program now and for years to come."
Waite was honored at a special reception at the MISD.
