There's an App for UCS

UCS one of the first schools districts in Michigan to introduce App for iPad, iPhone and Android Devices.

Utica Community Schools has introduced a new district App for the iPad and android and iPhone devices.

The app, currently available on the district’s Web site, is one of the first introduced by a Michigan K-12 school district.

“The district will use every available avenue to share important information with our community and celebrate the many successes of our students, staff and schools,” Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said.  “In addition to our traditional communication methods, we will continue to use technology to give parents and community members access to the information they need at any time.”

The App is the latest installment of a long list of UCS news sources with daily updates, including a Web site accessed by nearly 40,000 unique visitors each month, Facebook, RSS news feed and Twitter. The district also provides weekly electronic newsletters to staff and parents and has regular updates on its LinkedIn and YouTube pages.  Each UCS school also maintains and updates its own Web site with newsletters, calendars and contact information.

In addition, the on-line PowerSchool program has been expanded this year to give all K-12 parents access to their child’s updated grades and attendance.

In its initial stage, the App will provide news, menus, videos, calendars and athletic results and features. Over the next few months, the App will be expanded to allow users to contact staff through e-mail and phone listings and the ability to customize information related to specific schools.
