UHS senior is finalist for citizenship scholarship

Senior Lindsay Spagnuolo is first local student in 50 years to advance to state level in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship program.

High School senior Lindsay Spagnuolo was recently recognized as a National Society Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship finalist.

The DAR Good Citizens program is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship, reflecting the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.

After being nominated by her school, Spagnuolo completed a timed essay as a requirement of the contest. This year's topic, "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It," asked students to describe the freedoms and responsibilities of a good citizen.
