Crissman's lego robotics team is going international

The Gummy Guardians are going international!

After securing two second place awards at the Michigan state tournament, a Crissman Elementary FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics teams has accepted an invitation to take part in the FLL International Open in early June.

Crissman Elementary's Lego Robotics team captured two second place awards in the state finals of the tournament.

This is the second straight year that the team has participated in an international event.

FIRST Lego Robotics introduces younger students (ages 9-14) to real-world math, science, technology & engineering challenges by conducting a research project and building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams annually compete under a theme, with this year’s challenge being “Nature's Fury”.

Crissman's second place Grand Champion Award at state competition was presented for having a strong score in all areas of the competition including research and project presentation, team work, and robot strategy and performance.

The Crissman team qualified for the state tournament after being named Grand Champion at the Utica Community Schools ThunderQuest competition.
Team members are Samantha Lewis, Madelyn Brown, Aidan Dupke, Kathryn Roy, Cheyenne Smith, Carter O'Donnell, Nicholas Tobin and Malow Junior High Mentor Alexander Roy. Team coaches are Pascal and Amy Roy.
