History resurfaces at Wiley Elementary

Wiley Elementary fourth graders set sail on a learning adventure recently when they recreated the Titanic.

After reading Finding the Titanic, the students drew chalk drawings of the ship in art class and watched the 1996 documentary "Titanic" on a recent field trip to Henry Ford Museum.

Students then took part in three different activities on December 11th based on the historic event, culminating in an afternoon tea event in the gym.
The tea even featured an actual woodwind quintet playing live music, courtesy of a parent who performs with the group.

Each child and teacher then dressed as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class passenger, researched him or her, and created passports and boarding passes to board the ship.
