Morgan takes to the street to promote environmental awareness

Morgan Elementary students have taken their environmental message to the streets.

The school took part Wednesday in the National Walk to School Day program.

For one day, students and their parents kept the cars in the garage and used their feet or bikes to get to school.

Sponsored by the school's Green team, the activity not only encouraged a healthy lifestyle but also sent a message about reducing fuel usage and carbon monoxide emissions.

Morgan's green team sponsors environmental activities throughout the year, including a school-wide recycling programs.

In its first year, the green team achieved "Evergreen" status for its school - the highest level awarded through the Michigan Green Schools program.
