UCS bands earn top ratings at district festival

All four Utica Community Schools bands took top honors at a recent regional festival.

Eisenhower, Henry Ford, Utica, and Stevenson bands received the top Division 1 ratings from judges at the annual Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District 16 Marching Band Festival.

Marching bands from Macomb and Oakland Counties performed the week of Oct. 7 at the festival, held at Stevenson High School.

Each school’s performance was graded by three judges, one each for music, marching, and general effect.

The UCS bands performed their half-time shows at the festival:

  • Utica High School - “Bond James Bond,”
  • Ford II High School - “Life’s a Beach”
  • Eisenhower Eagles - “Legends of Rock”
  • Stevenson High School - “Vegas, Baby!”
