UCS Honors Choir promotes friendships at its annual concert

Friendship was the key as the 2013 Utica Community Schools Honors Choir held its winter concert.

The annual Honors Choir concert brought the top 74 vocal music students together from each elementary school for a one-night only performance. 

Susan Rosso, music teacher and Co-Chair K-12 Performing Arts Department, told parents the students were selected based on auditions held last Spring. 

"You should be very proud because your children are from a select group," Rosso said. 

Other music teachers involved in the program included Christopher Zuccaro, Jessica Nicol, and Nancy Cannava.

Students performed five songs under the theme of Friendship of Song, such the Song of Life by Mac Huff and John Jacobson, No Bullies! Get Real (featuring songs such as Lean on Me and Change the World), and Friendship by Cole Porter. 

Students also got a look at their future when they watched the Stevenson High School choir perform songs of the '80s. The Stevenson choir was under the direction of Leo Humbach.
