UCS parents to receive information on concussion awareness as part of new state law

Utica Community Schools parents will receive important information this year on concussion awareness in their back to school registration packets.

As part of a new state law, all UCS parents will receive information about concussions, their symptoms and what to do if you suspect a concussion.

The form, which parents are asked to sign and return to their school office, is also available on the UCS Web site at: www.uticak12.org. Information about the awareness program is under the Quick links tab. The form will also be provided to new families registering in UCS for the first time.

In addition to providing the parent information sheet, UCS physical education staff members and coaches will also take part in an on-line training program related to concussions.
