UCS student helps drive North American Auto Show with award-winning poster

A Utica Community Schools senior is helping drive this year's North American International Auto Show with an award-winning poster idea.

Angelica Paparizos was the sole winner of a $1,000 State Farm Insurance Award through the event's annual high school poster contest.

In total, nearly 1,000 entries were received from 73 different high schools.

"The record number of entries speaks volumes about interest in NAIAS and the global auto industry," said auto show chairman Bob Shuman. "What is especially important is that these students exhibited the creative talent that is so critical to the success of this industry. We congratulate the winning artists."

Paparizos, of Shelby Township, is a Utica High School student who entered the contest through a photography course she is taking at Henry Ford II High School taught by Joe Elliott.

Paparizos' poster will displayed at the Auto Show, which is being held January 13-26 at Cobo Hall.
