A Shelby Township resident was one of more than 100 Chrysler Group employees who volunteered to improve Belle Isle.

Shelby Township resident Zlatko Trajcevski was one of more than 100 Chrysler Group employees who recently volunteered to help clear brush and plant native plants at Belle Isle Park in Detroit.

The employees, who mainly were from Chrysler's Powertrain Manufacturing Group, worked for six hours potting native plants in the greenhouse at Belle Isle, removed invasive plant species such as honeysuckle, and cleared dead wood and brush along canals and the forest, according to a release.

Service is an integral part of the Chrysler Group, with employees helping nearly 134,000 residents and providing more than $6.7 million in charitable donations and multi-year commitments to organizations and programs located in the City of Detroit, according to a release.
