“You're going to shut your mouth or I'm going to have some duct tape put on it," Judge John McBain told Camia Gamet during her sentencing Wednesday. (Screenshot: WJBK Video)

Doesn't a life in prison sentence inherently mean that she is going to die in prison? He didn't sayRead More he hopes she gets killed. This classy broad was laughing as the family of the deceased described the impact the murder had. He might have lost his cool, but I have no problem with what the judge said, and if she has no empathy at all then I too hope she dies in prison... preferably after serving out a long and lonely sentence.

So, $500 and this guy gets to go out and do it all again...possibly killing someone next time. WhatRead More is up with these idiot judges these days?

Lynn Vander Meer April 16, 2014 at 10:01 am
There is no "excuse" or defense for this. And the bigger shame is that he got away with itRead More for so long.Hopefully the children can heal from this. Stealing someone's innocence is in some ways worse than killing the body because it stays with you throughout your life.
Anon April 17, 2014 at 11:17 am
An innocent man was sentenced today. It makes me very scared of our justice system that one child'sRead More word of mouth is taken over a 60 year old man's.

Well, I was a parent to three, and all are successful medical professionals. Do you watch the newsRead More or know any teachers in public schools. Ask teachers if kids are fine. Most are total brats. When I look at all those on the welfare dole, seems like Darwinism needs a few more million years to weed out the lazy.
Racer Boy April 15, 2014 at 10:11 pm
Unfortunately, we created the lazy...LBJ's Great Society has spent $Trillions developing an entireRead More segment of society totally dependent on Government for it's survival. Now, that group has grown in such numbers as to be able to elect a Socialist-based representative government. They in turn, continue to provide more and more Government supplied perks. It will be very difficult to halt this death spiral into oblivion. They have control of our primary, secondary and collegiate educational system...literally indoctrinating our children into the Socialist lifestyle...which looks good on paper. It works really well until you run out of someone else's money. We are at the critical tipping point where the takers are dangerously close to out numbering the makers. We need to wake up now.

It doesn’t take much for the “mob mentality,” or “herd mentality” toRead More kick in. It appears this began as a hate crime and then that mob mentality kicked in, and emotions raged blinding all to the reality of their actions. There’s a lot of anger in this country - it doesn’t help that our political, legal and financial leaders are systematically destroying the middle class, creating a much larger, more lethal lower class.
Ron April 16, 2014 at 09:03 am
Michelle,, Please,,, "they PROBABLY bred the hatred for whites in him"....... I wouldRead More agree that we can teach our children ANYTHING we choose to. However,, I cannot imagine how you can make such a blatantly racist assertions without a SHRED of proof. I would suggest that the number of parents that actually knew their child was capable of a crime is quite low,,,, Timothy McVeigh,, Adam Lanza,, both white and both guilty of committing atrocities against innocent people,,,, can you seriously say the same thing about those white families you just said about the young man that attacked Mr. Utash in Detroit? Or do you have a different set of "standards" for white criminals?

I hope that those reading this article will take the time to do the right thing for Steve Utash byRead More going to the donation site listed above and make a donation to help the Utash family through this nightmare. Just skip what you were going to do this weekend and take that money and donate it to the Utash family. It's the right thing to do--you'll be helping someone who did the right thing as well. Thank you!

Healing cannot occur until all 'pus' is cleared out! To state otherwise is either disingenuous orRead More is a complete lie or it's both. Furthermore, I can tell you that healing begins from 'within', so let's get on with it, our friends in Detroit. Rev. Barb Stamford, CT

according to a master plan for Detroit promoted a couple of years ago, the idea is to congregateRead More populated areas of the city and move out those who live in sparser settled areas. If that plan comes about, what happened to Mr. Utash will only be the first instance of a way of life. Although regular citizens will move out, there is certainty that the lawless will move into the vacated parts of Detroit. If you stay in a populated part of the city, you should be relatively safe. However, if you have business or pleasure that takes you out of one populated area into another populated area, you will have to pass through the "Sherwood Forest," full of outlaws, in between. Woe betide the innocent traveler, like Mr. Utash, who is caught out there. My response to this is to carve Detroit into three pieces: The City of Grand River (north of I-96 and west of Woodward), The City of Gratiot (north of I-96 and east of Woodward), and The City of Detroit (south of I-96). These cities would be self-sufficient, but could share resources if they wanted to. The benefit would be local control of utilities and services. Also, any empty spaces would be smaller and more easily controlled than ones in the present 139 square miles of Detroit. Additionally, with local control, builders would appear because people apparently want to live closer to the core of an area, which in this case, would be the smaller City of Detroit. Detroit once was a small settlement along the river bank. It expanded to take in a huge area as people flocked in. Why can't it retract in order to meet the current circumstances?

If he hit a black child then i agree racial, however if he hit a white child then it is because heRead More hit the kid, even if black it could be he hit the kid and they had a problem with him doing that. Even though he hit a child that was unattended in the rd is no reason to have the crap beaten out of him. An accident is an accident, like i said earlier if this is how people react then especially when hitting a child police or the child's family should not question if someone commits a hit and run.

I agree with Mr Wolfe, I am a dog lover BUT dog handlers should have dogs on leashes and pick upRead More after them. Sandy McClure April 2, 2014 at 07:19 am
Here's a crazy question, what if the bear was coming after him? What's he supposed to do? If youRead More look up the definition if poaching, that's not what he did, especially if he was trying to save his own life. By leaving the bear to die in the woods, that is not "poaching". I am not a hunter but if you have to save your own life by shooting a black bear, that is a different story. This article has the guy tried and convicted.
Jeff Jaje April 2, 2014 at 09:03 am
The dude is already giving ethical hunters a bad name with overuse of deer bait. There are manyRead More things ethical and skilled hunters can do for protection from bears before needing to shoot them in self defense. How many of those things did this dude do?
Karen April 2, 2014 at 11:13 am
Ya Sandy, Kill. Always an excuse. If they could have saved the cubs...but no, the guy should beRead More prosecuted to the fullest extent. So many hunters wound and leave the animal to die. It's sickening. He baited. that is enough. He asked for trouble but unfortunately the mother is dead an 3 cubs too, no doubt. He is SO wrong. Please, give him a tough sentence...it will not be harsh enough!!!!

Dale: Your metaphor was disgusting, insulting and meant to be so. The only thing worse? You areRead More pleased with yourself for that bit of scatilogical nonsense.
Daffy Noodnicks April 8, 2014 at 07:36 pm
Dale: you have more than implied that gay people who live a full and open life are not realRead More Christians. They aren't the only ones you have denigrated in this way either. Are You trying to cover for your awful writing? It will not work. The intent with your metaphors are always clear. Nobody is confused. As mentioned before, there many other points of view than yours, or the two opinions I introduced you to at that website. Yours is no more important than anyone else's, no matter what labels you use. The way you run other people down only speaks volumes about you.
Daffy Noodnicks April 8, 2014 at 10:05 pm
And Dale, you weren't commenting on drug use, you were comparing the heartfelt religious convictionsRead More of other people to drug use, and manure consumption, as well as other demeaning language. It is the sort of intolerant speech you trade in, while pretending to innocently hide behind the Bible or whatever. No matter how you couch it, it's just lousy stuff to say about other people. And then you whine about intolerance when someone calls you on it.
