Patch Picks: Red Ox Tavern Offers Sports Inside, Serenity Outside

The Red Ox Tavern is one of Patch’s favorite bars for outside seating in the warm sunny weather.

If I’m going to do a little write up about which bars have the best outdoor patios for summer that means I should probably visit them, right? Oh, how I love doing research.  Today’s pick of the day is the Red Ox Tavern in Utica for their spacious outdoor patio area, the perfect place to sit back and relax. But that’s not all the Red Ox has to offer. Considered one of the area's top sports bars, the Red Ox has plenty of TVs inside for prime viewing. The outside seating then offers the perfect escape to enjoy some fresh air and some of the tavern’s delicious eats.  Check out their website to see the weekly events such as Monday night Bike Nights and Thursday’s DJ Dancing parties.  Open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Call 586-726-7070 for more …

Patch Pick: Shamrock Irish Pub’s Outdoor Seating Puts You Right in Downtown

The Shamrock Irish Pub offers some great Irish spirits and even better outdoor seating to enjoy them.

So even though it’s not St. Patrick’s Day, it’s my lucky day that I get to do the research to find the best bars with outdoor seating. And it’s your lucky day too because one of those bars is Shamrock Irish Pub in Utica. The great outdoor patio that overlooks Utica’s charming downtown area is why this pub is our pick of the day. So if you want to swig a beer, munch on some great Irish fare and enjoy some pub spirits, Shamrock’s outdoor brick patio is the way to go. With downtown Utica and its happenings as a scenic backdrop, the Shamrock Irish Pub has been offering a place to relax and chat since 1935. Patch Picks: Coyote Joe's Tiki Torches Set the Mood

Coyote Joe's wooden patio provides the perfect setting for a romantic drink.

I really do love my job. Researching which bars have great outdoor summer patios is really, really hard work.  But for today, I can only pick one and I pick Coyote Joe's in Shelby Township for its beautiful and romantic tiki-torch-lit wooden patio. The patio is a good place to take out a cowgirl from inside the rocking bar to talk and get to know each other better. The natural backdrop of a peaceful stream and many trees boosts the romantic mood on the patio. Ask about their Free Party Friday's. Open Thursday-Saturday. Call 586-254-4666 for more information.
