Upscale Woman and Children's Boutique takes Utica Shoppers by Surprise

Make a girl's day out visiting Utica's newest children and woman's boutique, It's So Me.

Hiding in a second floor building in downtown Utica sits a designer children and woman’s boutique, with the look and feel of a store you would find in a quaint up-north town. It’s So Me Boutique opened it’s doors in November 2011, but it’s slowly growing a following among local fashionistas and mom’s looking for an adorable special occasions outfit. “They aren’t everyday clothes but it’s a unique look. You’re not going to see your child’s Persnickety outfit at Nordstrom’s because it’s a unique boutique brand,” said part owner Ruth Russo. Russo, along with her daughter Renee Sorgi and their friends, also mother daughter duo, Colleen Hoste and Jen Soave opened the boutique with baby clothing and crib furnishings in mind, but when the women …

Fashion Friday's Presents: Posh Palace

Shelby-Utica fashion boutiques offer great new styles and accessories every week. Check back every Friday for the latest in tops, bottoms, bags, accessories and more!

My name is Salam Zahr, and each Friday I will visit a different boutique in Shelby-Utica to showcase the latest styles they have available. This week, I visited the Posh Palace on Shelby Road. The store opened its doors on November 21 of last year, but they have already made an impact on the fashion-forward residents of Shelby. The boutique is owned by good friends Michele Grillo and Laurie Orlando. The two opened the store with the help of their husbands, who are also good friends. Michele's husband is a residential and commercial builder and owns The Grillo Companies. Laurie's husband is a finish carpenter and did all the woodwork for the store. His company is called Elegante Finished Carpentry. Both are located in Shelby. Both Michele …

Posh Palace Brings Glamour to Shelby

An entrepreneurial Shelby Township family has launched their latest venture with the trendy boutique Posh Palace.

The Posh Palace is a business built on family, friends—and fashion. At the northwest corner of 25 Mile Road and Shelby Road in the Northwoods Square shopping plaza, the upscale boutique sells women's clothing, personalized children's items, costume jewelry, accessories and home décor. "If you're looking for something plain, you won't find it here," said Michele Grillo, who opened the shop with her business partner and friend of 16 years, Laurie Orlando. Their husbands are lifelong friends who helped transform a plain cinder block interior into what Grillo calls a "warm, girly store," with custom woodwork to display trendy yet affordable merchandise. The boutique opened in November, just in time for holiday shopping. As a special promotion…
