Register Now: Daycamps at Stony Creek

Looking for a great kids camp in your own backyard? Check out the happenings at Stony Creek.

There’s no reason to go far this summer for a great kids camp experience. Stony Creek is offering several programs for kids and teens that will not only keep their minds working during the warmer months, but also give them a lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors. Preregistration is required for all camps. Nature’s Child Day Camp: Nature Center June 18 – June 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Meet live animals, catch a fish, take a tractor-drawn wagon ride, paddle a 34-foot canoe, do science experiments and go on nature adventures! Shelby Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp The Shelby Parks & Recreation Department’s 2011 Summer Recreation Day Camp is a six week program that will have you children's minds and bodies active all summer long. Upon registration parents may choose from these four camp sites:  Switzer Elementary, Morgan Elementary, West Utica Elementary, and Duncan Elementary Schools. Enrollment is accepted by phone or in person at the Parks, Recreation & Maintenance Department.  On-line enrollment for this program is not available. Sign Up Now for Summer Day Camp Fun

If you're looking for summer activities for your elementary-age child, why not try the Shelby Township Parks and Recreation day camp?

Each summer, parents scramble to find summer programs or camps for their kids. Giving kids some structure in the summer is always a plus for both the kids and the parents. According to the American Camp Association there are about 12,000 summer camps throughout the country with 5,000 of them day camps. Summer camps are known to build self-confidence and self-esteem while improving social skills and the ability to make friends. Here in Shelby Township, the Parks and Recreation Department offers residents and nonresidents the opportunity to participate in their Summer Recreation Day Camp from June 20 through July 28.
