Charter One recently celebrated the grand opening of the new Shelby Creek branch at 8484 26 Mile in Shelby Township. During the grand opening celebrations, which included family activities, a $1,000 donation was made to Shelby Township's Extended Hand Charity. The charity provides food and other items to individuals and families in need. “Extended Hand Charity is a grassroots community organization that has no paid staff and uses volunteers to provide food baskets to local families in need during the holidays,” said Linda Curnutte, president of Extended Hand Charity, in a release. “I want to thank Charter One for its generous contribution which will allow us to help more local families and individuals.” The branch, which has full-service …

Shelby Township police are asking for the public's help in solving a crime.
The Shelby Township police have released photos of a man wanted in Monday’s Charter One Bank robbery on 22 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue. The man, dressed in women’s clothing, entered the bank around 4:30 p.m. and placed a purse in the door to prevent it from being locked if the alarm sounded, said Shelby Police Capt. Stephen Stanbury. The robber pointed two fingers at the teller, implying that he had a handgun, but none was seen. He told the teller to place cash in his purse, and fled the bank. Stanbury said he got away with $2,400 in cash and discarded the dye packs in the parking lot before they were able to explode. “It seems like this guy has experience,” Stanbury said. A man disguised as a woman robbed a Shelby Township bank Monday afternoon, according to The Macomb Daily.
A man disguised as a woman and wearing a “Mexican fiesta dress” robbed the Charter One Bank Monday afternoon, according to The Macomb Daily. The paper reported the man allegedly took $2,500 in cash, which he stuffed into a purse when he fled the bank on Van Dyke Avenue, north of 22 Mile Road. Witnesses told police the man was black, about 6 feet 1 inches tall, and weighed about 250 pounds, according to The Macomb Daily. He was also described as wearing a black wig, large sunglasses, white gloves and the colorful dress. Anyone with information is asked to call the Shelby Township police at 586-731-2121.
