Lady Antebellum to be an Opening Act for Freedom Hill Amphitheatre

Concerts, festivals and graduations will once again return to Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights in 2013 after a four-year absence.

Freedom Hill Amphitheatre in Sterling Heights will reopen next summer with Grammy-winning band Lady Antebellum headlining as an opening act. The announcement came during a press conference Tuesday where members of the ownership group, including Joe Vicari of Andiamo Restaurant Group, Tom Celani of Luna Entertainment and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, discussed the reopening of the 7,200-seat facility on Metropolitan Parkway. "We are going to bring Freedom Hill to a new level," said Vicari, who is looking to bring a variety of acts to the venue and credits the new leadership with his decision to reopen the amphitheatre. Partridge Creek Kicks Off Summer Concert Series Over Memorial Day Weekend

The Summer Sounds concert series returns to the Mall at Partridge Creek this year, featuring live music every day from May 26 through Labor Day.

The Mall at Partridge Creek will be alive with the sound of music again this summer, with the return of the Motor City Co-op Credit Union Summer Sounds concert series. The series kicks off its fifth year Saturday, May 26, with a performance by the Randy Brock Group from 4-8 p.m. in the mall's center court. The free daily concerts will continue through Labor Day, and feature area bands such as the Sun Messengers, Boogie Dynomite, Parrots of the Caribbean, Square Pegz and Big Will and the 360 Degree Band. 'Live from Orchestra Hall': A DSO Concert is Just a Click Away

Detroit Symphony Orchestra announces 13 performances to be aired via webcast.

Music lovers will really click with this news. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has revealed that it will air 13 high-definition “Live from Orchestra Hall” webcasts.  “The webcasts by the DSO are a wonderful new way for audiences to connect with live symphonic music, and remind us of how the arts enrich us,” said Dennis Scholl, Knight Foundation’s vice president/arts. “The webcasts have made experiencing a live DSO concert just as easy as watching a football game or streaming your favorite TV show,” said Scott Harrison, executive producer of digital media. “We’re aiming at becoming the most accessible orchestra on the planet, and Knight Foundation has played an important role in our pursuit of that goal.” The series kicks off Jan. 22, …

Sound Off in Stony Creek Metropark

Find out the music concerts coming to Stony Creek Metropark in July and get ready to jam.

It’s summer, and that means it’s time to get out and rock out! And Stony Creek Metropark is here to help.  The metropark is offering three concerts this July, all of which are free except for the required vehicle entry permit of an annual pass or $5 per visit.  All concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at Eastwood Beach, and the park recommends that concertgoers arrive early for the best seating.  Want to make a whole evening of it? Feel free to bring a blanket and picnic basket, or food will also be available at the park’s concession area (but no glass containers are allowed). Drive-In Theater Opens in Macomb for One-Night Show

The Macomb Township Parks and Recreation Department is hosting numerous free family fun nights throughout the summer, starting with a Movie Under the Stars on Tuesday, June 28.

The drive-in movie is a distant memory for many of us, but for one night next week, that memory will be alive and well in Macomb Township. When we were kids, it was weekend routine to grab some friends, jump in the family station wagon and drive to the drive-in movie theater. There, we would sit on the hood of the car and watch a movie outside under the stars. Now our kids can have that same experience at Macomb Township's Park-It Family Fun Night on June 28.  Only this event is more than just watching a movie.
