Shelby Twp. Corporate Park to Get Special Tax Incentives to Attract Businesses

Cherry Creek Corporate Park will become an Industrial Development District, which will mean tax incentives toward its revitalization.

The Shelby Township Board of Trustees agreed Tuesday night to rezone the Cherry Creek Corporate Park into an Industrial Development District to attract more businesses. The zoning provides a tax incentive to manufacturers to enable renovation and expansion of aging facilities, assist in the building of new facilities and to promote the establishment of high-tech facilities. Jim Ahee, senior economic development specialist for Macomb County, said that by rezoning the space, it will reduce the time it takes to get new companies into the township, and new businesses translate into more tax dollars.
