Eisenhower Football Falls In State Semis

Offense sputters against Detroit Cass Tech in 6-3 loss on a windy Saturday afternoon.

The wind blew hard, very hard, Sarturday afternoon, making it very difficult for either team to throw the ball effectively. The difference, however, was Cass Tech's ability to run the ball when it needed to, while Eisenhower simply couldn't get any ground attack going. The result was a heartbreaking, 6-3, season-ending loss for the Eagles in the Division 1 state semifinals. Ike had its share of chances, however, including a drive late in the fourth quarter. As was the case for the majority of the contest, the Technicians defense was stout, thwarting the drive and sending the Eagles home one game shy of the Division 1 state finals. Eisenhower Loses to Cass Tech in Football State Semifinals

Eagles finish season with 11-2 overall record.

Eisenhower lost to Detroit Cass Tech 6-3 in a Division 1 football state semifinal game Saturday at Troy Athens High School, according to the MHSAA. The Eagles, who won the MAC Red Division championship, were trying for their fifth trip to the state championship game. But Eisenhower could not overcome Cass Tech, which advances to next Saturday’s title game at Ford Field in Detroit to play Novi Detroit Catholic Central. Eisenhower finishes the year with an 11-2 record.

Eisenhower Football to Tackle Detroit Cass Tech in Semifinals

Eagles will try for berth in state championship game when they face Detroit Cass Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Troy Athens High School.

Eisenhower has another team to tackle in its quest for a state high school football championship. Eisenhower will play Detroit Cass Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Troy Athens High School in a Division 1 state semifinal. If the Eagles win, they will advance to the state finals at Ford Field on Nov. 26. Eisenhower is gunning for its fifth trip to the state championship game and its first since 2003. To get there, though, the Eagles must defeat a Detroit Cass Tech team that shut out Warren De La Salle 6-0 in last week’s regional finals. The Technicians are 9-3 overall, and they are led by running back Royce Jenkins Stone, a University of Michigan recruit. Eisenhower, the champion of the MAC Red Division, is 11-1 overall. Eisenhower defeated Walled Lake Central 38-21 in a Division 1 regional championship game on Friday, according to the MHSAA. The Eagles will play Detroit Cass Tech, which defeated Warren De La Salle 6-0 on Friday.

Eisenhower Battles Walled Lake Central in Football Playoffs

Eagles play for regional championship Friday at 7 p.m.

Eisenhower will host Walled Lake Central in a Division 1 football regional championship game at Swinehart Field on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the Internet on FoxSportsDetroit.com. The Eagles, the champion of the MAC Red Division, are 10-1 overall and are appearing in a regional title game for the second straight year. In his First Pitch blog on mhsaa.com, Geoff Kimmerly points out that Eisenhower’s defense has not allowed a point since the first week of October. The Eagles will be tested by versatile Walled Lake Central quarterback Zac Leimbach, who has overcome personal tragedy to lead his team to an 8-3 record and upset victories over Clarkston and Lake Orion in the playoffs.

Eisenhower, Dakota to Meet Again on Football Field

Eagles and Cougars will have rematch in first round of high school football playoffs.

Eisenhower and Dakota will face off again in the first round of the state high school football playoffs, the MHSAA announced Oct. 23. Eisenhower, the champion of the MAC Red Division, defeated Dakota 33-21 in the regular season. Eisenhower is 8-1 overall, and Dakota is 6-3. The two teams will meet in the playoff game at Utica High School's Swinehart Field at 7 p.m. Friday

Eisenhower Football Shuts Out Cousino

Eagles finish regular season 8-1 and await state playoff matchup.

Eisenhower ended high school football’s regular season in style with a 23-0 victory over MAC White Division champion Cousino on Friday night, according to the MHSAA. The Eagles, the MAC Red Division champions, finished the regular season with an 8-1 overall record. Eisenhower will play in the state playoffs next week, and the Eagles will learn their first-round opponent on Sunday when the postseason pairings are announced at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports Detroit. Meanwhile, Utica lost to Warren Mott 46-3. The Chieftains finished with a 2-7 record.

Eisenhower's Bob Lantzy Records 300th Win

Eagles clinch MAC Red Division high school football championship as coach reaches milestone.

Eisenhower football coach Bob Lantzy recorded his 300th career victory as the Eagles defeated Chippewa Valley 45-0 Friday night, according to mhssa.com. Lantzy became the ninth coach in MHSAA history to reach the 300-win milestone. He is the only coach in the history of the Eisenhower program, dating back to 1970. The victory on Friday also gave the Eagles the outright MAC Red Division championship. Eisenhower is 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the MAC Red. The Eagles conclude the regular season next Friday at home against Warren Cousino.

Eisenhower, Dakota Battle in Big High School Football Game

Eagles and Cougars will meet Friday night in a showdown between the top two teams in the MAC Red Division.

Friday night’s high school football game between Dakota and Eisenhower provides big excitement. The game, which kicks off at 7 p.m. at Utica’s Swinehart Field, will feature the two top teams in the MAC Red Division. The winner will take sole possession of first place and hold the inside track for the league championship. In addition, Eisenhower will celebrate its homecoming. That’s big. Dakota and Eisenhower are powerful programs led by successful coaches. The Eagles’ Bob Lantzy has won 298 games in his career, and Mike Giannone has led the Cougars to two state championships. Once again, Lantzy and Giannone boast powerful teams. Dakota has won five straight games since a season-opening loss at Muskegon. The Cougars are 5-1 overall and 3-0 …

Eisenhower Football Spoils L'Anse Creuse North Homecoming

Eagles improve to 5-1 overall with victory over Crusaders.

The Eisenhower football team defeated L'Anse Creuse North 25-6 on Friday night in the Crusaders' homecoming game. With the victory, Eisenhower improved to 5-1 overall. Eisenhower plays Dakota next week in a battle for first place in the MAC Red Division.
