Freezing Temps Help Shelby Open Ice Rinks at Mae Stecker, River Bends Parks

All three outdoor ice rinks in Shelby Township, including one at Stony Creek, should now be open for the winter season.

Sharpen those blades, skaters. Shelby Township's outdoor ice rinks are ready for action. Thanks to recent freezing temperatures, the Shelby Township Parks & Recreation Department posted on its Facebook page Friday that the rink at Mae Stecker Park should be available for use starting Sunday. The rink at Mae Stecker is open weekends from dawn until dusk and weekdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting. The township's second outdoor rink, located at River Bends Park, is currently open from dawn until dusk all days of the week, again weather permitting.
