Dr. Jim Jacobs delivered his 29th annual Macomb County Economic Forecast in Chesterfield Township. Jacobs' speech, which was overall positive, noted that the county was expected to fare better in growth and recovery than the national economy in 2013. County officials, who attended the speech, reacted to the forecast with enthusiasm. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel said Jacobs' points, such as strides in the housing market and labor force, are "encouraging to know." Dr. Jim Jacobs will deliver his annual economic forecast for Macomb County Wednesday at Zuccaro Banquets and Catering in Chesterfield Township. Jacobs, who is president of Macomb Community College, annually analyzes state and county trends, and forecasts what lies ahead for the county in 2013. Last year, Jacobs stated the county would do better than the national economy in terms of growth and recovery. His prediction could hold true, judging by the State of the County delivered by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel in December. After a decade of financial hardship, Macomb County is in a stage of economic recovery with population increases, job growth, falling unemployment rates and the formation of a solid brand to lure visitors and business. I feel that we have been living with a over 30 year stagnant wage. While the price of everything went up our wages didn't go with it. Until we see something happen with that people will have less disposable income to use in the economy.   more ›
