The Shelby Township police, along with Utica and Sterling Heights have kicked off a special traffic initiative to boost patrol along M-59 between Hayes and Dequindre roads in November.
Don’t be surprised if you see an influx of patrol officers along M-59 in Shelby Township and Utica during the month of November. The Shelby Township Police Department has issued an early warning to lead-footed drivers that patrol along M-59, also known as Hall Road, between Dequindre and Hayes roads, will be boosted in the next month. According to a press release, police said they decided to enact the traffic initiative after seeing an increase in fatal crashes, speeders traveling in excess of 85 mph and higher, drivers disobeying traffic signals and more aggressive drivers in the area. M-59 will be closed from Van Dyke to Hayes beginning Saturday evening.
Before heading down to Hall Road, also known as M-59, be sure to check the Michigan Department of Transportation's construction updates. The right two lanes of eastbound M-59 will be closed from Van Dyke Avenue to Hayes Road from 9 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair. The right two lanes of eastbound Hall Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair.
If your weekend plans include cruising along Hall Road, be aware that the right two lanes of eastbound Hall Road between Van Dyke and Hayes Road will be closed starting Saturday night. The lanes will close at 9 p.m. Saturday and remain closed until 5 a.m. Tuesday for pavement repair, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. In northern Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing construction.

Construction kicks off on M-59 between Van Dyke to Hall Road today.
If you're planning on heading out this beautiful Michigan weekend, take a look at construction projects that will be kicking off today and throughout the week. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin pavement repair projects month on sections of M-59 in Macomb County and I-75 in Oakland County . Both projects are expected to be completed in mid-September.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning roadwork and lane restrictions throughout Macomb County this weekend. I-94: The right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed for maintenance from 11 Mile Road to 12 Mile Road from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. During this same time, the eastbound I-94 ramp to 12 Mile Road will be closed. No Kidding! I had a cell phoning woman pull out in front of me as I was driving down the right lane heading north on Van Dyke between 59 and 21 mile today. The lane was closed but I was turning off right before the barricade. She waited till I was right on top of her and pulled out in front of me. I could feel my breaks pulsing as I slammed on the brakes. I honestly can't believe I didn't hit her!   more ›
