How Fast in a Work Zone? Playful MDOT Video Explains Freeway Speed Limits

The YouTube video was created to help motorists understand speed limits in work zones.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), in partnership with the Michigan State Police (MSP), has posted a new safety video to the MDOT YouTube channel to help motorists understand speed limits in freeway work zones. "Working with our partners, we developed a sign strategy for improving safety along our freeways," said State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle, president of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). "These signs are designed to help save lives, but only if motorists do their part and drive responsibly." The "Where Workers Present 45" speed limit applies when workers or active equipment are within approximately one vehicle width of the line of barrels in the work zone. If …
