Heat Is on the Streets as Construction Warms Up

Road construction still hobbles motorists across metropolitan Detroit.

With temperatures heating up, motorists have even more headaches to worry about while on the roads this week. Work was scheduled to start Monday on the Parkdale Road bridge over Stoney Creek. The road will be closed at the bridge, which is between Letica and Dequindre; through traffic will not be allowed. The road is expected to reopen Sept. 1. “We recognize that the closure of Parkdale Road will be an inconvenience for area residents and businesses,” said Eric Wilson, chairman of the Road Commission for Oakland County. “However, this bridge is in need of replacement, and there is no way to replace a bridge without closing the road." The suggested detour route is Dequindre Road to Avon Road to Rochester Road to Romeo Road and vice versa. …
