Miss Michigan Returns to St. Clair Shores for Celebration

Newly crowned Miss Michigan, Angela Venditti, returned to St. Clair Shores Sunday for a Homecoming celebration for her family, friends and supporters.

It has been a whirlwind four weeks for Angela Venditti, the former Miss St. Clair Shores and current Miss Michigan. Venditti, of Shelby Township, has been traveling the state since being crowned at the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts in Muskegon.  Her travels, in a Chevy Volt donated by various Chevrolet dealers across the state, brought her to Rojo Mexican Bistro in St. Clair Shores for a homecoming celebration with family, friends and her fellow pageant contestants from across the region. The 24-year-old Oakland University graduate took a few minutes from the celebration to speak with Patch: Q. What has it been like the past four weeks being Miss Michigan? A. "It has been very busy. It has been a lot of fun traveling the state for …

OK, my bad. I guess you do not have to be from the city you represent. But it looks like SCS was well represented in the Miss Michigan pagent anyway. Would have been interesting is Miss SCS would have lost the Michigan title to one of the ladies from SCS... 2012 Miss Michigan runner-ups were: 19-year-old Shelby Gardiner of St. Clair Shores, 24-year-old Kelly Oles of Oxford, 22-year-old Sarah …   more ›

Miss St. Clair Shores Begins Her Reign as Miss Michigan

Angela Venditti, a Shelby Township resident and current Miss St. Clair Shores, was crowned Miss Michigan on Saturday and has started preparations for Miss America pageant.

When the field of 31 contestants for Miss Michigan was whittled down to the final two Saturday at the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts in Muskegon, someone from St. Clair Shores was guaranteed to receive the crown. Either Miss St. Clair Shores Angela Venditti or Miss Wayne County Shelby Gardiner, a St. Clair Shores resident, would be chosen to receive the title and represent Michigan in Miss America. "As one person kept getting chipped away and it was me and Shelby ... I couldn't believe it," she said. "Something I had been working on for so long and I was right there." After Gardiner's name was called, Venditti knew she won, but was "in shock" that she won. The preliminary for the pageant began Thursday and included a 10-minute …

I think the contest may have been the only one or closest one in Macomb County. I too would have preferred a Miss Shelby Township to have won than a Miss St. Clair Shores, it kind of give St. Clair Shores unearned credit and takes from Shelby Township.   more ›

Oxford Woman Crowned Miss Oakland County 2011

Kelly Oles was first runner-up in the 2011 Miss Michigan competition three weeks ago.

Kelly Oles, named first runner-up in the 2011 Miss Michigan pageant three weeks ago, was crowned Miss Oakland County 2011 Saturday night at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills. Miss Oakland County was her first local pageant when she first got involved in the Miss America program in 2009.  "I actually Googled 'volunteering', because I wanted to make a bigger impact in my community," the 23-year-old MBA candidate said. It has given her the opportunity to promote her platform, healthy living for kids, inspired by her concern over alarming rates of childhood obesity. But that's not all. "I love the friendships, I love all the girls," Oles said. As she works toward her advanced degree, Oles said she is looking for a job. "I've got two …
