A 19-year-old Shelby Township man accused of drunken driving is facing multiple felony charges after police say he lost control of his car and drove into another vehicle carrying a family of four Sunday in Chesterfield Township. Brandon Ostipow was arraigned Thursday in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on three counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, three counts of operating with a suspended license causing injury, and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. While the unlawful use charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in jail, the other six counts are felony charges punishable by up to five years in jail each, according to police. A 22-year-old Fraser man was arrested last Sunday night in Utica on charges of operating while under the influence of drugs. Utica police officers found the man passed out behind the wheel of his Jeep Cherokee at the intersection on Hall Road and Schoenherr roads. According to a police report, the man was slurring his speech and admitted to taking some prescription drugs that had made him drowsy. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a drug scale with marijuana residue, empty medical marijuana prescription pill bottles, 15 Adderall pills, Mason jars with marijuana residue, a grinder full of marijuana, a vaporizer and a marijuana bud under the seat. Identity Thieves Target Two People A homeowner on Kensington Drive reported to the Utica Police Department on July 16 that someone had opened accounts with DTE and Home Depot without his permission. The resident received a DTE bill for $1,095 for electric service at a Detroit apartment that he does not own. Upon a credit report check, the resident also found that someone fraudulently opened a Home Depot account that has not been used. He is disputing the accounts. The Utica Police Department responded to a report of ID theft on July 12 when a sister claimed her sibling used her social security number to create an account with Comcast for a home on Cass Drive. The officer observed new equipment at the home. The sister is pressing charges…
