New Shelby Township Pizzeria Puts Eastern European Twist on Chicago-Style Pizza

Father and son Erion and Fred Gjysma have brought their own spin on the Chicago-Style pizza to Shelby Township. The father and son duo opened Fred’s Pizza on 24 and Hayes less than a month ago. Headlining the new pizzeria is their infamous two-layered “Chicago-style stuffed” pizza. “It has three times the amount of cheese that a normal pizza has,” said Erion Gjysma. Erion Gjysma said he didn’t want to copy traditional Chicago-Style pizza. “We wanted to make it our own.” And, make it their own they did. Marina, I agree with the respondent. I don't know how Stathekis can say he saved the Township 4.1 mil, unless he is including the monies that ex-Chief Levan saved him on the police station. Go through the Hall Road section of Shelby, down Van Dyke, down Shelby Pkwy, the mile roads, etc. Kuka opened in the parkway area, but there are a lot of now abandoned buildings in that area. While Black Friday may be known as the busiest shopping day of the year for large retailers, independently owned boutiques in Shelby Township are hoping the next day, Small Business Saturday, will be their busiest day of the year. Small Business Saturday is a day that is designated nationally to supporting local busineses.
