Area Dancers Bring Holiday Magic of 'The Nutcracker' to Macomb Center

Members of the Macomb Ballet Company perform Tchaikovsky's classic ballet Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts in Clinton Township.

Inspired by the dazzling melodies of famed Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the Macomb Ballet Company is once again bringing the enchanting tale of The Nutcracker to audiences at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts. Set at Christmas and encompassing all the magic of this season, The Nutcracker ballet has become a holiday standard around the world and a rite of passage for many of the aspiring dancers of the Macomb Ballet Company (MBC), a pre-professional group in Macomb County. Macomb Ballet Company's 'Nutcracker' Creates Christmas 'Dream'

The Macomb Ballet Company, founded by Ann Parsley, will bring to life the "The Nutcracker" today and Saturday at the Macomb Center for Performing Arts.

Accompanied by the timeless melodies of famed Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the Macomb Ballet Company is drawing audiences into a shimmering land of enchantment this weekend with their performances of the Christmas classic, The Nutcracker. “It’s like a big dream,” said Mount Clemens resident Sasha McGeorge, 19, who dances the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy. “In the beginning, you’re at this party. (The young girl) Clara falls asleep and she goes to this magical land where everything is sweet and fluffy.
