DNR Urges Ice Safety as Temps Edge 60 Degrees Saturday
The recent warm front has thinned ice on inland waterways, canals and along Lake St. Clair. While it may still look safe, state officials recommend individuals follow some important safety tips before heading out on the ice.
Spring-like temperatures are melting the snow on Shelby Township and Utica streets and thinning the ice formed in recent weeks on inland waterways, canals and Lake St. Clair. While stretches of ice may look safe, officials with the Department of Natural Resources remind those who head out on the ice to take proper safety precautions, especially considering warming temperatures over the past few days. “All ice has the propensity to be dangerous,” said Lt.
